Even the few writings that are very accurate are not always the best use of our resources.In fact, I recently went to the Lincoln library and there were no writings of Lincoln by me, or any other source. Another area which is completely lacking is in the literature on Lincoln's contemporaries. Many of them are now beginning to gain their place as biographers, but many of them were not even Lincoln's contemporaries. For example, we have C.C. Hamlin, Charles James Eliot, Thomas Hart Benton, and others, yet they're in no way comparable to him. They may cover a period of time that's only a fraction of Lincoln's life, but that doesn't mean that they are comparable.Therefore, unless you have the courage to start your career with a sample biographical essay on Abraham Lincoln, I would suggest that you do yourself a favor and start studying something else. I know that I did not start my career with a sample biographical essay on Abraham Lincoln, but I do remember when it would have been easy to write one.
